Can you go the distance?
This outdoor event requires a minimum level of fitness and endurance.
This is by no means a walk in the park...
Although children at very young age can participate for this event, be sure to register for the
event yourself and accompany your child or children if you are unsure they are really up to it.
Every child above the age of 12 can participate without the company of an adult and the
dozens of volunteers along the track will ensure that all participants are in safe hands, every
minute along the track.
The 5 km event is designed for newcomers, children and adults, who want to satisfy their
curiosity about hiking and trail running. It is set in the unspoilt area around Empangan Klang
Gates and Kampung Kemensah. Although there will be time registration, it is mainly a race
against yourself. There will be no winner of this race, except yourself! Participants are advised to
cover the full distance in less than 4 hours.
Intermediate checkpoints and drink stations will assist participants in their quest to reach the
finish in the best possible condition while all participants have to challenge their individual
physical and mental capacities along the track.
Unlike other races, which are run on hard or sealed road surface, the Kemensah Kiddos Krazy is
a run on jungle trails. There is less than 300m of tarred road surface.
The trail is characterised by a variety of surfaces. Red clay sections and dense jungle trails will
alternate with nice distinguishable trails, favoured by trail runners.
The run will start near Kampung Kemensah and the participants will be directed into a 5 km loop
which they will have to complete before heading to the finish.
Marshals will monitor the event and the participants have to register at the several checkpoints
along the track in order to avoid disqualification.
Although runners and hikers are expected to be self-sufficient during the event, along the track
are several water stations where participants can fill their water bottles and hydration packs.
Some drink stations will also supply isotonic drinks.
Two stations will have fruit and after reaching the finish line, a cooked meal will be served.
As the start is scheduled for 8:00am and the maximum advised running time is 3 hours, all
participants should reach the finish line latest by 11:00am.
The minimum age to participate is 12 if the child is not accompanied by a participating adult.
Parents who want to participate and also register their children below the age of 12 can do so.
Since this is not really a race, we won’t have any rewards for this event because there will be no
top-ranked participants. But all participants will receive a participant’s T-shirt and a certificate.
We pay importance to our educational role as organisers and since we want to introduce you to
hiking and trail running, we would want you to be a responsible outdoor enthusiast. Hence we
make it compulsory for every participant, even for those participating in the 5 kilometres event,
to bring along a few items, called the mandatory kit. More details can be found on this web page.
