30 km - advised 9 hours
Can you go the distance?
This outdoor event requires a serious level of fitness and endurance.
Do not underestimate the distance and do not overestimate your own potential.
If you are fit, take up the challenge. It’s the only way to find out whether you are up to it or not.
However if your fitness level is not optimal, we advise you to register for an event with a shorter
distance instead.
The 30 km event is set in the dense jungles of the Forest Gombak Reserve between Gombak
and Kampung Kemensah. It is a race against time and against yourself. Participants are advised
to cover the full distance in less than 10 hours.
Intermediate checkpoints and drink stations will assist participants in their quest to reach the
finish in the best possible condition while all participants have to challenge their individual
physical and mental capacities along the track.
Unlike other races, which are run on hard or sealed road surface, the Kemensah Kracking Krazy
is a run on jungle trails. There is less than 300m of tarred road surface.
The trail is characterised by a variety of surfaces. Red clay sections and dense jungle trails will
alternate with nice distinguishable trails, favoured by trail runners.
The 30 km run will start near Kampung Kemensah with a loop of more than 10 kilometres in the
open area around the Klang Gates Water Reservoir. Then participants will be directed towards
the Gombak Forest Reserve where they will follow a trail which brings them to Gombak.
Although the trail is clear in most cases, there are certain stretches with roots, rocks and multiple
stream crossings. A mere 5 kilometres from the civilised world in Gombak, participants will be
directed downhill towards a stream crossing in order to commence their way back and to the
finish.
Marshals will monitor the event and the participants have to register at the several checkpoints
along the track in order to avoid disqualification.
Although runners and hikers are expected to be self-sufficient during the event, along the track
are several water stations where participants can fill their water bottles and hydration packs.
Some drink stations will also supply isotonic drinks.
Some stations will have fruit and after reaching the finish line, a cooked meal will be served.
As the start is scheduled for 7:15am and the advised finishing time is within 9 hours, all
participants should reach the finish line latest by 4:15pm.
At the moment we are still working on the prize monies for the top-ranked participants. Drop us a
line if you want us to keep you informed.
There is a mandatory kit for this event, and more details can be found on this web page.
The Kemensah Kracking Krazy 30 km does not qualify for Asian Trail Explorers’ Die Hard Series,
a series of outdoor events that pushes participants to the limit. In that case you have to enroll for
the Kemensah Killer Krazy 45 km.
